About the city

Join us in Cádiz, the oldest city in Western Europe! Founded around the year 1100 BC by the Phoenicians, Cádiz emerges from the Atlantic ocean as the capitol city of the southernmost province of Spain, in the world-wide known region of Andalucía. Cádiz, or the little silver cup as its inhabitants please to call it, is a little treasure to discover. Nowadays, with an extension of 12 km² and 120000 inhabitants, it receives an increasing number of visitors who feel privileged to enjoy its weather and excellent food and wine, lovely beaches, historical landmarks, and famous Carnival.

Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, and Muslims settled here and made up our long and influential history over centuries. Faced to the sea and the commerce, and a key strategic location for the exploration and trade in The West Indies, its rich history is reflected in its beautiful buildings, gardens, monuments, and squares.

In the following map, many places emblematic of Cádiz can be found.
